Why Getting Checked (and Speaking Up) Matters

For Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month- a time to shine a light on cancers that often don’t get enough attention. The five main types of gynecologic cancer are cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar. Each impacts women differently, but they all share one truth: early detection and awareness save lives.

At Fighting Pretty, we believe in the power of every woman’s story, every woman’s fight, and every woman’s body. This month, we’re raising awareness while reminding you: your body matters, and your voice matters.

1. Early detection saves lives.
Many gynecologic cancers can be treated more effectively when found early—sometimes even before symptoms start. Routine screenings and paying attention to your body make a difference.

2. Your body knows first.
If something feels “off,” don’t ignore it. Pain, bloating, unusual bleeding, or changes in your cycle are all signals worth checking. Your intuition is powerful—trust it.

3. You deserve answers.
Advocating for yourself can feel like a fight. Sometimes doctors dismiss concerns or it takes time to get the right tests. But your health is worth persistence. Keep asking, keep pushing—you are worth it.

4. Your story can inspire others.
When you speak up, you protect yourself and you encourage other women to listen to their own bodies. Sharing your journey is an act of strength that can ripple out to help so many others.

💪 Fighting for your health isn’t always easy, but remember this: you are strong, powerful, and not alone.

Wear Purple, Share Strength

The color 💜 purple represents gynecologic cancer awareness. This month, we invite you to wear purple and show support for the women fighting these cancers—and the women fighting to be heard.

One simple way to show solidarity is with our Lavender Gloves of Strength. These mini gloves are a Fighting Pretty symbol, designed to remind women everywhere to never give up. Whether you keep them for yourself or gift them to someone you love, they carry the message that beauty and strength can exist together—even in the toughest fights.
